The day before my birthday, a really lovely thing happened.

Let's go back to June 2026 and visit Bowes Railway on a 1940's themed weekend. Think army uniforms, shiny vehicles, weird anatomically correct faux bodies with gross injuries backed up with detailed stories that will make you cry.

There was a battle re-enactment where shots were fired and, being sensitive to noise (thanks ASD/ADHD) I wandered off to find some quiet and came across a sweetheart and an airman sat outside a tent just having a chat...

Fast forward to August, an email dropped in telling me I'd made the top ten photographs in the competition. Absolutely over the moon I was!

On the day before my birthday, I hauled the family down from our camping trip to visit Bowes, have tea, cake and to see who won...

I did. Massive ugly cries and awkward hugs ensued. Best bit is (apart from the beautiful trophy) that I've made wonderful new friends and beautiful connections.

I bloody love photography.
